A Wonder-fall Saturday at the Market!

Thanksgiving may be over, but don't let that stop you from enjoying some more fall festivities before the weather gets too cold! This Saturday will be one to remember at the Market with our Fall Food Fest happening during our regular Outdoor Farmer's Market! GrowingChefs! will be hosting this incredible event full of apples, pies, live music and plenty of delicious foods and interactive activities!
GrowingChefs! is a registered charity in London specializing in food education projects to get kids and communities excited about healthy, wholesome foods! We're so excited to collaborate with a local charity that encourages confidence and enthusiasm in the kitchen. Stay tuned-you may see a future collab with GrowingChefs! in our 2023 Market Calendar coming soon!
And we can't forget The Sweater Weather Artisan Market happening in the upstairs Mezzanine! Looking at all the vendor's fall-themed creations is getting us so excited; from pumpkin earrings to handmade soaps, you'll find the perfect gift for yourself or your loved ones! What better way to spend a Saturday than browsing through our outdoor Farmer's Market and Fall Food Fest, shopping our Fall-themed vendors and watching our free cooking class in The Market Kitchen? There's so much to do, and truly something for everyone!

AVAILABLE AT KILLDEER THIS WEEK

Parsnips – they’re sweet and funky and really good in soup or added to a tray of roasted veg.

Rainbow Carrots – full of anti-oxidants, add some variety to your plate!

Daikon Radish – a staple in other parts of the world, this is a great addition to a coleslaw or stir-fry.

Plum Tomatoes – probably the last of these babies, because it’s getting chilly next week.

Kimchi – new batch kimchi, with lots of that fresh ginger, garlic, tatsoi and pokchoi.

519Pledge for Socks

Come visit the 519Pursuit booth and bring your brand-new socks to donate. The 5th Annual 519Pledge For Socks has returned and volunteers will be present each Saturday at the outdoor Farmers’ Market to collect your donations of brand-new socks until November 12th. We will also have a dropbox located on the main floor on the market at centre court!

 

You can also consider participating in the 519Pledge For Socks by raising a donation of 519 pairs that will support the overall goal of 100,000 pairs of socks. In the past 4 years the 519Pledge has resulted in a donation of 183,000 pairs of socks supporting 519pursuits community outreach efforts along with 50 other services, shelters and community groups from London-Toronto. 519Pursuit will also have some merch for sale which proceeds will keep their outreach vehicle fueled. Come join the conversation. Look for the tent with the big lantern.

FALL FOOD FEST

Our annual celebration of food, fall, and community is back again! Growing Chefs will be at the Farmers Market this Saturday to host a wonderful variety of fall food activities!

LIVE MUSIC AT THE FARMERS MARKET

Frank Reynoso will be performing outside on the Rotary Sqaure this Saturday from 8:30am to 10:30am.

Coming from far west Calgary, AB, Frank was always interested in musical arts and dance. When he moved to London, he was inspired by the local musical talents and genres in local bars. At age 23, he took to his first djmebe and quickly became hooked. Later on, learning other instruments, like the cajon, bongos, and electric drums. Frank wanted to learn the percussion arts and studied other artistic beats and rhythms from different cultures and talented musicians. He later joined a reggae band called “soulfyre’ to further his talents and learn diversity.

LIVE MUSIC AT THE FARMERS MARKET

Mother of Pearl will be performing on the Rotary Square this Saturday from 11am to 1pm.

 

Mother of Pearl is a dynamic guitar duo made up by Peter Tindall and David Rayo.  They began playing guitar together in 2008 and have played in and around London ever since.  MOP plays a variety of styles as they are a versatile pair.  Peter dazzles with his spontaneous solos while David keeps the groove with the rhythm guitar and vocals in English and Spanish.

SATURDAY COOKING CLASSES

This Saturday, join us in the market kitchen for our cooking class hosted by Kimi Abdullah. Kimi will be demonstrating how to make 2 Weeknight Soups: Spiced Chickpea & Noodle Soup + Hot & Sour Soup.

This Sunday, join us in the market kitchen for our cooking class hosted by Ankita Vaidya. Ankita will be demonstrating how to make a Vanilla Roasted Parsnip & Pear Soup w/ a Smoked Salmon Crostini
