SOMETIMES TEA IS SO GOOD YOU JUST WANT TO EAT IT. HERE'S HOW YOU CAN...

Take a moment and imagine the most delicious type of tea you’ve had. Maybe it’s sweet vanilla, tart hibiscus, or a classic Earl Grey. Now, consider your favourite food. Think gooey cookies, creamy ice creams, or even rare steaks. Combine the two together and what do you have? The ultimate taste indulgence for a tea lover. It’s time to get creative in the kitchen because believe it or not, tea is not just for drinking. Yes, some of the most delectable recipes can be enhanced with tea.

TEA-CENTRIC RECIPES YOU HAVE TO TRY (AND THE TEAS YOU NEED TO TRY THEM!)

Last week we shared five Tea-Centric Recipes and we are back with five more for you!

Get Culinary & Cozy with Tea Cookies

  • Your next night-in just got a lot better with this unexpected addition – tea cookies! No matter what flavour you prefer, there’s a cookie out there for you. Browse these Earl Grey tea cookiesvanilla rooibos cookies, or chewy matcha green tea cookies!
  • Our recommendation? Vegan Orange Pekoe Tea Scones. See the full recipe here. It uses our specialty Sweet Orange tea that combines premium Orange Pekoe with orange peel, orange blossoms, and natural orange flavour. Our customers have compared the taste to “drinking a creamsicle.”

Customize Your Ice Cream with Infusions

  • Ever heard of tea-infused ice cream? Maybe with some of the trending flavours like matcha or lavender. But what about all the other flavours? There are a few unique hidden gems we’d like to see in an ice cream, such as Pina ColadaSweet ChaiChocolate Mint!
  • Thanks to a helpful recipe from Spoon University, you can create absolutely ANY type of tea ice cream. So run to your cupboards right now and check what you have in stock, because you’re in for a treat! All you need is 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, and 2 tablespoons of your choice of loose leaf tea.  See the full recipe here.

Zhuzh Up Your Jam

  • Pick almost any tea flavour and turn it into a jam! All you need is loose leaf tea, sugar, water, and pectin. See the full recipe here.
  • There are so many uses for jam – from spreading it on toast to turning it into a salad dressing. A homemade tea-infused jam also makes for the sweetest and most thoughtful gift for a tea loving friend!
  • We’re dreaming of Raspberry Black Tea and French Lavender as jams. Just remember that, with Lavendera little goes a long way!

Cool Down with a TEAriffic Popsicle

  • Looking for a super easy, healthy treat? Consider iced tea popsicles! All you have to do is steep a pitcher of iced tea, pour in popsicle moulds and freeze for a few hours.

Our favourite blends for tea popsicles are:

  1. Hibiscus Flower – fruity, sweet, sour.
  2. Ruby Red Iced Tea – juicy, refreshing, tart.
  3. Mango Fruit Tea – mango subdued with additional fruits.

Feeling Sick? Sip on a Healthy Smoothie

  • Transform your favourite teas into smoothies. You only need the simple addition of some complementary fruits and flavourful milks.
  • See many options here or, opt for our founder Stefanie’s favourite – a Matcha green tea smoothie. Just blend together your choice of milk, any fruits you have on hand, and a teaspoon of powdered green tea Matcha! Our go-to combo is almond milk, pineapple, and banana.  Matcha is a simple addition to any smoothie and  a superfood boost that will work its magic on your body. Discover its health benefits here.

SUNDAY LATIN MARKET

SOLE TO SOUL SHOE DRIVE

It’s the time of year when we look to support our friends by swapping out their winter boots with shoes. Having little to no secure storage space our friends usually survive with what they can carry in their hands or store in their tents. With that being said we have high hopes in stocking up our running shoes so we can offer our friends a new pair of comfortable footwear that is supportive so that when they are spending most of their days walking or standing on concrete it is easier to do so.

519 Pursuit is looking for both men’s and women’s shoes with sizes ranging from 8-13. Men’s shoe sizes that are most requested are size 9-12 and women’s sizes 8-10. They will not be accepting children’s shoe sizes at this time as 519 Pursuit does not often support children or families in need (the local shelters do an amazing job at doing this) and they do not have appropriate storage to hold onto them as they work from two small storage lockers.

Please be mindful when donating…

  • Little to no rips or holes
  • No heels or dress shoes
  • No flip flops or sandals
  • no children’s shoes

You can make your donations in our main entrance off the Rotary Square starting May 15th!

The studio has partnered with 519Pursuit to collect donations on their behalf at these FREE outdoor classes! We are currently collecting lightly worn shoes until May 31st for the Soul to Sole Shoe Drive for our friends in the community.
