Halloween! šŸŽƒā£

Happy Thursday! Who can believe that we're nearing the end of October already and that Halloween is this weekend? We are so excited to celebrate this spooky holiday! While we can't host our traditional Pumpkin Patch event this year, we can still celebrate and have fun in a safe way. Look below for more details! Don't forget that this weekend is also the last time that 519Pursuit will be at the Farmers' Market so make sure to bring your sock donations! The pledge will be continuing until the middle of November so if you forget, there is still time to donate at their donation centres. Also, check below for our vendor list - something exciting is that Dee from Made From Scratch will be at the market this Saturday! She'll only be joining us for a few weekends before Christmas so make sure to say hello!

Fall Planting

Youā€™re probably all aware that itā€™s harvest season across Ontario – but did you know that thereā€™s also a lot of planting happening right now? Farmers plant seeds in the fall, too!

Garlic, for example, is planted in the fall and needs cold days to grow and split. Leafy greens, onions and carrots, among many others, can also be planted in the fall for a winter, spring, or even summer harvest!

Some flower varieties like tulips and peonies are also planted in the fall. This photo from The Wandering Bee Farm is of the farm family planting peonies to be cut and enjoyed in a few years!

Farming requires a lot of planning and hard work and we are so thankful for the wonderful people who do that work for us!

Vendor Updates!

It’s nearing the end of some of our vendor’s seasons and that means some changes.

This Saturday will be the last Saturday that Joyce Farms will be with us. Sungold Market Garden and AppleMeadow Organics are also nearing the end of their seasons – they will definitely be here this weekend and may be here for a couple of more weeks, depending on weather and other factors!

This doesn’t mean that all of our farmers are leaving! Orchard Hill Farm, Thames River Melons, Fisher’s Fungi Farm, Lynch Farms, and Greystead Gardens will be with us until December 19, and Janssens Farm Fresh Produce may join us for a few weeks in November and December as well. Blanbrook Bison and Den Besten Trout Farm will also be with us until the end of December and we may see Dave’s Beef & Lamb and Carver’s Natural Farms pop their heads in every so often as well!

Additionally, we have many other vendors joining us who were with us for the summer, or new vendors who are only joining for November and December. So don’t you worry! We have many exciting things in store for the Farmers’ Market and can’t wait to ring in the holidays with you all. In the meantime, check below for who will be at the market this weekend!
