Different ways to use your summer produce

The July season isn’t just about the beautiful sunshine and summer fun, but it also means that an array of produce is in season and ready to be used to its full potential. Here are just a few different examples on how you can use the in-season produce. 


Cherries:

  • Make a summer slush using frozen cherries, water, frozen pineapple and some ice cubes. Add lime juice on top for some extra flavour!
  • Use them in a delicious cherry pie or crumble.
  • Make cherry lime popsicles to stay cool.

Tomatoes:

  • Make fresh salsa that will be a hit at all your summer gatherings.
  • Tomato, basil and mozzarella skewers are a great snack and are so easy to make. These ingredients can also be used on flatbread.
  • Make a cherry tomato and burrata pasta dish.

Corn:

  • Make corn salsa that is the perfect summer snack.
  • Create a cheesy baked corn dip
  • Make a salad with corn,squash, and kale. Topped with olive oil and a vinaigrette of your choice.

Rhubarb:

  • Make an apple rhubarb or strawberry rhubarb pie.
  • Create a sweet rhubarb sauce or puree to top over anything you like including yogurt, pancakes or ice cream.
  • Try to make a strawberry, rhubarb and mint margarita to enjoy on a warm night.

Summer squash:

  • Make roasted summer squash
  • Use squash in a pesto & basil pasta recipe
  • Sautee summer squash and other veggies to create a great side dish.
