Hello September!
September 1, 2022
This is the list, folks! See who you can find at the Farmers’ Market this Saturday, September 3rd! Click on their names to find information on pre-orders and to learn more about their farms and businesses!
Check out their websites for more information about their products and to see what’s in season/currently available!
Quaker Calm Tea – the dry version of Martha’s Herbal Tea, this bag is a local fundraising operation, made by members of the community and Quakers (I’m (Ellen) one – join us for an hour of silent worship/ meditation on Sundays in Sparta at 11am – sometimes it’s just what I need. The meeting house is old and beautiful with wavy glass on the windows looking out onto old maples.). It makes a great gift and often sells out before the holiday season.
Pesto Provençal – a pasta sauce designed to transport you! It’s got grilled eggplant & zucchini that have been blended with tomatoes, basil, garlic and olive oil. Dry cured olives and anchovies add richness and intrigue. Perfect for an easy weeknight pasta, secretly loaded with a variety of vegetables.
Dilly Carrots – lacto-fermented dilly carrots – I’ve made them before, they’re fantastic!
Ratatouille – French classic, it’s a stew, it’s a sauce for polenta, it’s a sauce for pasta, it’s a nest for poaching an egg, it’s a buddy in the instant pot for some chicken or some lamb – chock full of veg, a capsule of late August. I recommend saving this one in the freezer for a few months until you’re desperate for a taste of summer.
Celery – crunchy and juicy, flavorful but gets along with almost everything in the pot.
Little Gems, Crispy Green and Romaine – head lettuce is back!
Soak in the first signs of fall with these gluten free leaf sugar cookies with royal icing this Saturday from Helm Baked!
French breakfast radish, purple daikon radish, Romano beans, French beans, fennel, carrots, arugula, spinach, salad mix, and mustard greens. Summer crops like tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants still abound and should hang on for a few more weeks!
these mushroom & fontina tarts from @morsels_london_on are delicious! Find them along with other vegetarian savoury baked goods every Saturday 8am to 1pm.
