See you soon!*** How's everyone doing? Are you over strawberries yet? We can't seem to get enough of them and this week is going to have more than ever. We have a classic strawberry social planned for this Thursday and we are so excited to continue the tradition of the Canada Day Strawberry Cake on Saturday. So check out the details below and we hope to see you out and about celebrating the first full week of summer.

What is a strawberry social?

According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary a strawberry social or festival is:

a community festival (such as a card party, church supper, or bazaar) held usually in strawberry season at which strawberry shortcake is served

We know farmers’ markets are all about community and it is definitely peak strawberry season, so we will be celebrating with strawberries and ice cream. The ice cream will be made by our very own Ice Cream Bowl-with a vegan sorbet option as well!

Canada Day Weekend

The Indoor Market is closed Monday. We hope that our indoor vendors will have a chance to relax and enjoy the summer! That being said Saturday is the day to come downtown and stock up on everything you want for the weekend.

We will be having a special Canada Day Farmers’ Market Celebration. Every year International Bakery makes us cake with local farmers strawberries. This year our MP Karen Vecchio will be joining us to cut the cake and join in the fun! This will be happening at 11am

We will also have face painting for the kids from 9-12!

Fermentation Workshop

As the seasons produce is beginning to roll in, we must already begin to think about putting some away for winter. One of the oldest ways of doing this is through something called fermentation. Think Sauerkraut or Kimchi! These practices can be used on all sorts of produce and Valarie Andrews from London’s Harvest Pantry will be teaching a class THIS WEEKEND.

She may even throw in a salsa recipe!

Last Week’s Class was a huge hit and we are so grateful to everyone that comes out and supports our local chefs-see you this weekend (The class runs 11-12).
