Makarooni (Persian style Spaghetti)

Ingredients

  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2-3 tbsp. tomatoes paste
  • 1 package of spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons of saffron brew
  • pita or a medium-sized potato sliced
  • 1 tbsp. turmeric
  • salt/pepper
  • grapeseed oil
  • olive oil
  • lemon

Directions

  1. Fry the diced onion in hot oil until golden.
  2. Add in turmeric and pepper.
  3. Add in the ground beef and brown.
  4. Add in the tomato paste mix in and saute for a few minutes.
  5. Add in the salt, and saffron and take off heat set aside.
  6. In a large pot bring water to boil, add some salt, and cook pasta until aladante.
  7. Strain pasta.
  8. In the stock pot add some oil, and layer in either bread or sliced potatoes (this will be the bottom of pot crisp ‘tah dig’.
  9. Then layer in pasta and meat sauce until the pot is full.
  10. Drizzle some olive oil cover and simmer on low to medium heat until it steams and the bottom layer sounds like it is sizzling.
  11. Turn heat off and serve.
