Spin Today for Youth Tomorrow’ is a province-wide event being held on Friday, April 1st, 2022 outside on the Market Square, the first day of World Autism Awareness Month. The event is being held in honour of the more than 50,000 autistic children who are waiting to receive therapy in Ontario.
Groups and individuals will be spinning (riding a stationary bike) for up to 50,000 seconds (13.8 hours), each second representing a child on the waitlist. Riding for this duration is not required to participate—do what you can safely, with your physical ability. Participants will choose the length of time and type of activity that works for their lifestyle. We are asking people across the province to join us! If you have a stationary bike, you can spin from the comfort of your home, if not, head out on a family bike ride, or walk to show your support—it really is that easy!
Be sure to take photos and tag with #SpinTodayForYouthTomorrow-on Instagram, Twitter (tag and follow @ONTautism), or on Facebook. We would love to see how you choose to show your support! We can no longer accept children with autism waiting 5-7 years for therapy.
Our growers are working hard to be ready for the outdoor Farmers’ Market. Greystead Gardens is one of our farmers who has fresh produce available almost all year long due to their season lengthening growing practices. The past few weeks they have had potatoes, arugula, carrots, and turnip at our Indoor Farmers’ Market!
Our Farmers’ Market will be taking place this Saturday, upstairs in the Mezzanine from 9am to 1pm with 30 local farmers and artisans. Check out who will be there below or click on their name to take you to their social media pages to see what they have to offer!
Saturday Vendor List:
Sarina Haggarty will be performing that Saturday, April 2nd from 9:00am to 10:30am upstairs in the Blue Lounge.
Overcoming adversity has been part of Sarina Haggarty’s day-today for much of her life. So when a world-wide pandemic forced musicians to cancel gigs and stay home, Sarina did what she’s always done. She got down to work and collaborated with inspirational artists and producers. And rehearsed. Then rewrite. Rehearse some more. Repeat.
No venue? No problem. Since the spring of 2020, Sarina has performed weekly to virtual audiences. Familiar favourites and her latest singles were a welcome respite to music-loving fans around the world. Between lockdowns, Sarina performed every live concert she could, and was happy to open for a CCMA’s event in London, Ontario at the London Music Hall. As soon as she could, Sarina headed into the studio again where she recorded her latest songs while working with producers Moe Berg, Dan Brodbeck, Dylan Emmet, Alex Emrich, and Nick Fetchison.
Winner of the Slaight Communications Inc. MIA Artist Development Award and the FCLMA’s Fan Favourite, Sarina Haggarty works diligently at her craft and performance every single day. She grew up performing, so when she sang alongside Shawn Mendes and Make-A-Wish for 22,000 fans, it felt like coming home. Sarina has shared the stage with Tim Hicks and Tyler Shaw, and she regularly uses her music to serve others in the community with her melodic stylings, thoughtfully crafted songs, and her wicked sense of humour. Make-A-Wish, Bethany’s Hope, and London Health Sciences Centre are just a few of the charities Sarina supports with her music.
As a graduate of Fanshawe College’s Music Industry Arts Program, and with 2 EPs released, Sarina’s cross-over sound appeals to pop, indie, alternative, and country audiences alike. Her next album is scheduled for release in Summer 2022, and Sarina is more than ready to entertain live and in person.
Lindsey & The Lonelies will be performing that Saturday, April 2nd from 11:00am to 1:00pm upstairs in the Blue Lounge.
Lindsey & The Lonelies are from London ON, seducing their audiences with brooding alt. country songs and hypnotizing harmonies. The band members are Lindsey Burns (guitar, vocals), Dawn Redskye (guitar, vocals), John Huff (drums, vocals), and Tyler Wilson (bass, keys, vocals). Their debut album, ‘Lonely Is A Dirty Word’ was released in November 2018.
